Protect Your Assets and Optimize Performance

Ammonium salt fouling and corrosion are persistent challenges in North American refineries. Kurita’s Ammonium Chloride Free (ACF) technology is designed to eliminate these threats and enhance operational reliability.

ACF additives are liquid formulations with extremely high base strength. They react instantly with strong acids like hydrochloric acid, displacing corrosive ammonium salts and forming neutral pH, low-corrosion liquid salts.

Kurita ACF is most effective in crude/vacuum overheads, hydrotreaters, hydrocrackers, FCC main fractionators, cokers, and reformer/aromatics overhead systems — essentially anywhere ammonia and chloride combine under condensing conditions to form deposits.

Minimize Corrosion Risks

ACF neutralizes hydrochloric acid and prevents the formation of corrosive ammonium salts. This significantly reduces corrosion in overhead systems, exchangers, and other critical assets.

Improve System Performance

The liquid ACF can be dosed directly into process streams, protecting equipment and decreasing chemical use. This ultimately means reducing maintenance and fewer shutdowns and ensuring long-term cost savings.

Reduce Water Consumption

Traditional salt removal methods rely heavily on wash water. ACF’s liquid reaction products eliminate the need for excessive water flushing, helping you conserve resources and reduce wastewater treatment costs.

Save Energy

By preventing salt fouling on heat exchanger surfaces, ACF improves heat transfer and reduces energy demand, leading to lower fuel consumption and improved process efficiency.
